UrbanPromise Trenton hires teens to provide direct programming for the younger students and assist other staff members by supporting younger students who are part of UPT’s AfterSchool and SummerCamp Programs. StreetLeaders work with the Site Directors and StreetLeader Director to help them plan programming. Academics are at the heart of programming offered to our StreetLeaders. They are provided enrichment opportunities, including Youth Career Readiness, TrentonTrekkers, and other programs and speakers that offer teen-oriented programs.
Some of the current StreetLeaders will be participating in Paddle for Promise to support the TrentonTrekkers program.
UrbanPromise Trenton will be joining UrbanPromise organizations from Camden and Millville for the 2024 Paddle for Promise. The organizations will use 10-person voyager canoes to paddle around Petty's Island in the Delaware River on September 28, 2024. Each of the 10 paddlers from UrbanPromise Trenton will be raising support from their friends and family to support the TrentonTrekkers program.
UPT believes in outdoor time which is why we started an UrbanTrekkers program in Trenton. We believe that through the TrentonTrekkers program, we have a unique opportunity to offer youth from Trenton a different perspective on the world around them. Through travel to places beyond students’ everyday lives and a focus on cross-cultural experiences, historical perspectives, environmental awareness, and community service, students are motivated to learn from their TrentonTrekker journeys and carry that motivation into their studies.
